Assuming composite output from camera ?  I use one of these 12v models - res is not brill (480x480) but i can hook up 2 camera's and flick between the 2 using remote handset. There are ones with better resolution on ebay but mine seems ok - the only downside is the seeing angle but i cant moan i picked it up for £9 including reversing camera for my caravan in an auction - loss leader i think as not see that price again.

Hi,

I've used a "field monitor", connected via HDMI from my laptop (or, in some cases, directly from the camera to the monitor using S-Video or composite).

My particular monitor is a Lilliput 969, but there are lots of choices out there (varying screen sizes/quality/resolution, etc.).  Mine can run AC or DC, and

can accept a battery pack to operate as well, so it's quite flexible; however, it is not the cheapest monitor out there by any stretch.

Cheers,

- Greg A

I was wondering would this be a good set up . Looks good....but then again I don't have much of an insight on this technology . On a steep learning curve at the moment .

Looks neat - One thing to check if you intend to record more than one channel, Can it record D1 quality on all 4 channels in real time - Quadplexing I think they call it ? Some only can record on 1 channel in high quality(this case highest is D1) and the rest in CIF - depends what you want to do. If you get an answer and they say all 4 channels at D1 Real Time then please update us I quite like the combination - Good find.

Thanks again Stash-old for the reply . just recording on one channel would suit me fine .  I would like to be able to record either video sequence or snap shots . Erm....D1 and quadplexing are all science fiction for me at the moment . Basically looking for something decent to set up on garden table for imaging . I used the laptop the other night  and dropped it on the floor . Very luckily no damage done, but lesson learned. I am very tempted with the site you have found , will check it out .
