Locked T-rings

Have any forum members come across the issue of T-rings or extension tubes becoming locked so tight that they cant be undone. I have not yet found any tools with enough torque to be able to successfully remove a locked ring without causing severe damage to either the ring or what it is attached to or even worse both. I resorted to boiling and cooling one very expensive adapter to free a locked ring & this took nearly 2-hours of frustration.

If you have any suggestions to prevent this happening or removal techniques please inform or any tools that you know of that might be useful to free a locked ring.

Tinker - great tip on the rubber gloves - I have used that a few times on weird stuff that I cant get a strap wrench on.  I have some of those silicon heat resistant oven gloves and they are very handy sometimes as they give your hand a lot more grip on stuff.

I can vouch for the rubber glove method. I used this technique last night to remove a T-mount adapter from my QSI. However, best to very lightly lubricate the threads in the first place to avoid this! I've not heard of the show polish trick. Might give that a go.

Regards

John
