Hi folks,

There's a good chance for clear skies from  2300 - 300  (11:00 pm - 3:00 am)  with low wind predicted.

For those souls wishing to brave the late into early hour elements, tonight's Observing Meet is a " GO ".

I should be up there about 2200 ( 10:00 pm). and look forward to catching up with the group and meeting new members.

Please mention here to let the group know if your planning to come up tonight. Hopefully, if we can trust the weather reports,

tonight will be a good start to our observing season.

Cheers !

It's probably going to be a bit late for me to make the journey. I have an early start tomorrow so will most likely try to get a few hours out the back instead. Small chance I may change my mind so I will let you guys know if the situation changes for me.

i hopefully will be there tonight :)       i dont think im going to bring the meade lx90 though due to the ice (struggle to put it on in the day let alone in the night with an icy floor!) but i will bring my bins, gopro and i might stick the etx70 out (as it now works with the LX90s controller :)  getting it actualy showing me what im supposed to be seeing is the challenge though) - still havent gotten on with meades "goto haha-

thinks i better go load the truck up so i have no excuse now! :)

Slight change in the forecasts but still looking good from midnight to 3:00 am.

Paul, James, catch you on the next one. So far there's five of us, so it's nice that I won't have to talk to myself.

Edit: six now.

Woo, mostly clear now

I think Wow we had a splendid evening even if it was cold with 8+ being present the first meet of the New Year I finally got to try my recent acquisitions out even the BST 3.2mm performed well on Jupiter.

And of course it was great to meet up with other members including new members Tony and Carl and the 16"dob.

All in all a excellent evening.

Yes, was a great evening - thanks all for such a nice welcome. The 16" performed pretty well in the wind without the shroud, so I think I'll lug it up the mountain as often as I can.

As well as Lovejoy, I bagged myself M65 and M66 and NGC3228 (Leo Triplet) and M51 (with interacting NGC5195). Never stop working through those Messiers ;)

Yes a good evening although I didn't get there until 10..ish.

It was good to see the usual die-hards, last seen at Pencelli in October, with Lenny in good spirits as usual and uplifting us all despite the cold.

Also good to meet the new comers Karl and Stewart and offer them a glimpse of the Blaenavon skies. Hope to see you and others throughout the year.

Many thanks Mike for unenviable task of 'Sky Master', good call.
