matt-c
Finally decided to mod my beloved 1000d. It went pretty well but the main issue being with the screw inside and under the eye piece.Re assembled about 8x now and still error 99.It almost feels like the shutter is jammed when I press it.Has anyone had this problem and fixed it?I fear the worst for the little guy although I did only buy to mod it, it will be missed. Dave Lloyd
If, as it sounds it's a mechanical rather than an electronics problem and nothing has broken then it's probably not a write off. Not that I'm any kind of expert.
Gina
Try turning it upside down and giving it a good shake. Have you got all the screws in all the holes? Could be a rogue screw stuck in something. I could probably fix it - doesn't sound dead

sharkmelley
Don't panic yet! I've had error 99 before. The most likely cause is a ribbon cable that is not properly seated (or not connected at all). I'm afraid you'll have to open it up and check each one.Mark
Gina
Yes, those ribbon cables are devils
matt-c
Any tips with the cables? My main strategy has been to put them as far in as they'll go. Perhaps there is a sweet spot of not fully in or out.
Gina
Fully in is right but sometimes it's difficult to be sure they are fully seated. And some of the clips are very fragile

benzomobile
Hi!It 'happened to me and I suggest you try a firm pressure on both side of big flat cable connecting sensor pcb with main board. You should feel a small but definite "click". Otherwise not all pins will be in stable contact.Giuseppe
laser_jock99
The ribbon cable fittings are a pain- really only meant for single operation (i.e. in the factory) and not repeated assembly/dissassmbly.
