Hi everyone, my name is Riyadh and I am from Ethiopia. I am a MD but mostly work on computers. Been interested in astronomy since the 5th grade (am now 46).  I got my first telescope (Celestron FirstScope 114) some years back but I now mostly use a CPC 1100. I am located at an altitude of 2800 meters ( ~9200ft)  and at 9 degrees latitude so I can see almost all the constellations in the night sky :)  I am doing only visual astronomy so far.

hello Riyadh and welcome to stargazers lounge (sgl). at 2800mtrs you must have very clean air. I can only imagine what the skies look like from a place like that.

Enjoy your time in the forums :)

Thanks for the welcome guys. I imagine I must be at a good site for astronomy but I have not had a chance to compare properly to other places. I have been to LA and Dublin for short periods of time and both in both cities I have been able to see fewer starts and the ones I could see appeared to be fuzzier than over here. I think I will start a discussion in the Observing section on this.
