Dual band Oscilloscope for Arduino

If you are looking for dirt-cheap and you are only wanting fairly low frequencies then you can use your sound card as an oscilloscope (dual channel - left and right!). I've done this before and managed to pick apart a communications protocol running at 9600bps with it. Plenty of links on how to do this like http://makezine.com/projects/sound-card-oscilloscope/

For a bit more outlay, there are USB oscilloscopes available in the sub £100 price range - I haven't tried any of these, but it makes sense that you are saving on the display, processing power, etc as this is all done by the PC.

cheers,

Robin

Ooops - misread your post - didn't see it was a question    I bought a handheld one some time ago, think it was from Maplin, but it's only single channel.  Still very useful for low frequency stuff.

+1 for the USB scopes, as said an ocilloscope can be emulated on a PC using the sound card but does suffer a number of drawbacks as follows:

Relatively low input impedance causing loading on circuit under test.

Direct connection rather than using a proper probe can leave the PC/Laptop vunerable to damage if testing a unit that has relatively high voltages or transients.

PoScope ?

I haven't used one myself, but they have been around for a while so it should be a well developed device.

I like this a lot it is a big bonus to get the probes etc it used to supprise me somtimes in the pro market that a set of 4 hq probes could sometimes cost as much as a reasonable scope.

Yes, I used to think that too.

Which box, there's 9 (50 litre stacking) or more in the old scope room, and 4 or 5 in the loft, one of them also has the bread boards and bags of bits, and there is a bench type multi-meter in one, plus all the stuff i have forgotten about, gonna have a look over the weekend....
