At last managed to have a go with my new toy for Xmas even though the cloud cover is pretty bad, cant wait for some clear skies  to really get to grips with it, just the one sub 300mm lens, just wanted to see if it worked, went through lightroom with it, looking at it now think i pushed it to far

Its a sigma 300mm f2.8, I thought the tracking was ok but something went wrong when I decided to slew towards the seven sisters as that came out all blurred so obviously I must have moved something. It really annoys me that the polarie can track after just looking through a hole whereas this with the finderscope attached lining it up is a nightmare because of the angle and height I have to bend my legs to look through it, an angled viewfinder would be much better

TBH I have no idea think it was 2 mins, it was over exposed though  the whole photo was orange, I am just trying to get more familiar with it from the comfort of my garden so putting up with light pollution for the time being. Looks like its going to be clear tonight so will try again.

Got the SW SA set up to capture Lovejoy last night, bit awkward as the only place I could get a clear view was on the patio steps so ended up with the tripod legs on three different height steps :)

..........that`s the only tick (advantage)  I've seen  for a tripod over a Dobsonian mount?

I'm still waiting to see Lovejoy. Its position is still below the Houses, trees and against my street lights at present. I'll have to take a drive out!
