Moving the mirror in a newtonian

I am about to get a HEQ5 mount for astrophotography. In anticipation I decided to modify an old newtonian (Astroexplorer 114mm x 900mm f/7.9) inorder to be able to attach a DSLR to it. I made a 38mm spacer from two pieces of wood, attached the mirror with double sided sticky tape and secured it with some duct tape. Crinchworthy  I know . Once I get around to a hardware store I need to get some longer srews to put the mounting brackets back on.

Anyway put everything back together and ahad a go at the moon to see whether I can achieve focus. It works - with about 2 mm to spare.

Now I an't wait for the mount because I know I have something to play with!

Hey. What matters is that it works!

I would agree. But considering that it was the first time I ever tried something like this and this was my very first picture through a scope I was expecting more hiccups...
