Visual Spec on Windows 8?

Has anyone managed to get Visual Spec running on Windows 8?

I got past the missing OCX issues but as soon as I tried to process images got 'runtime error 5'.

If not, is there an alternative package?

Well some progress. I registered all the OCX files shipped, and now get past the runtime error when clicking Object Binning. I still get the same error clicking Reference Binning, but I've now also installed on a Win 7 system and get the same error. More research needed I think.

Can't help with the Win8, but I do run VSpec (and my preferred BASS Project) on a Win7 laptop.

Just make sure you install and run the program as "Administartor"

Hi Dave,

Not sure if it helps but I just checked my VSpec running on Win 7 64 bit in which  both object and ref binning work ok.  I can provoke a "runtime 5 error" though if I try to do another  object or reference  binning over the top of an existing one without changing the binning zone. (If i change the binning zone, I get the usual message  "do you want to replace the existing series with the new result?")

In a similar vein.  Can anyone still drag and drop spectrum profiles into VSpec under Win 7 the way you used to be able to do  under XP ? I seem to have lost this ability

I'm running the same spec PC. I have VSpec icon up as shortcut on the desktop.

It seems to accept "drag and drop" of 1D profiles (fits) but try a 2D fits image and it gives "Runtime error 35603 Invalid key"

I have VSpec on my Windows 8.1 system. I tried to run-as-admin trick. Now it tells me my security settings won't allow it.
