Narrowband

First chance at some faint fuzzies in a while.

It’s been a while since the sky has been dark and transparent enough here to warrant setting up the 120mm for some faint fuzzies.

The sky was a little murky last night, but Eridanus was well placed in the southeast, so I thought I’d start there with a few galaxies.

NGC 1187 - 60x - A barely detectable roundish patch of nebulosity brightening slightly towards the center.

NGC 1084 - 94x - A small, bright oval nebulosity with occasional glimpses of a bright core in a faint halo.

I noticed on the chart that near NGC 1084, just across the border in Cetus was a little group of four galaxies close together.  I was able to observe two of them.

NGC 1052 - 60x - Small, bright and round.

NGC 1042 - 60x - Large, very dim and oval.

Then I decided to finish off the session with a couple of Planetary Nebula.

Eridanus:  NGC 1535 - 94x - A small, bright light blue disk with occasional glimpses of a bright central region/central star?

Taurus:  NGC 1514 - 60x - A large very faint disk of nebulosity surrounding a fairly bright central star.  If I didn’t know its exact location, I could have easily swept right over it without noticing it.  At times, I sensed a “ringness” to it.

All in all, a nice faint fuzzie session, considering the less than optimal seeing conditions
