DeepSky Stacker for Mac...

Mmm, comparable - tricky, as DSS is free. As far as I know there are a couple of solutions...

Nebulosity for the Mac, works well, but comes at a cost. I use this and am happy with it.

Run a virtual windows thingy on the Mac so that you can run DSS on the Mac. Never tried this, but it is possible.

In terms of virtual machine software - I've used Parallels (good but each release requires money.. and that's frequent release..) so I switched to Oracle Virtualbox (free) with XP (you'll need to buy a windows installation) and it works.. although there was a USB bug in Virtualbox that required one CPU core to be used in the VM.

You could try using WINE with the PC version of DSS? (no windows install required). I've used WINE with Registax, however there's also Nebulosity (which also captures on mac too) and the obviously rather good PI.

There are quite a few apps being developed in the area of alignment.

Registax is free and OSX native.

Since when was there an OSX version?

Registax will run in wine but can be glitchy.

Autostakkert works really well in wine.

Both of these are for planetary stacking though so not comparable to DSS.

DSS will work in wine but is also glitchy.

I use vmware and win xp to run DSS.

There are some free native OS X stacking apps but none of them are as advanced as DSS.

TSED70Q, iOptron Smart EQ pro, ASI-120MM, Finepix S5 pro.
