Dew protection idea for Uranometria etc.

I bought this from eBay for about 14 quid with free delivery. It is just wider than the open book and the transparent lid will hopefully enable viewing while closed.

I'll report back after use in the field.

Great idea... maybe chuck a towel over it when you're not using it to keep the dew/frost at bay

Good idea to keep books covered when not in use. Not so sure about when you use them though. I always kept my Uranometria open on a stand while observing - its thick pages have been fine, and the binding remains perfectly intact. A plastic box is going to reflect your red light, and you'll need a brighter light in order to see through the plastic. But if it works for you then go for it.

I do put the sheets of my Great Atlas Of The Sky in a large clipframe. The clear plastic is right down against the sheets and I don't have an issue with transparency or reflections. I use a magnifying glass to read the map, and in that way I can use a dimmer light.

For plastic boxes etc I've always found Wilko pretty good.

Yeah - originally, the box was just to cover it while not in use, but the transparent lid might just work for reading, we'll see.

If not, I was toying with the idea of putting a light plus switch in the box somehow. Or just lifting the lid
