John,

I believe you know I have one as well. There is not a massive selection at the 4mm station and it is a very useable focal length in a couple of my scopes though mainly a planetary eyepiece when conditions permit, giving X200 and x250 when used. I paid a fair chunk more than the asking here and shortly after they were no more, sadly. I have said it many times and you have yourself, great value on the S/H market around this price.

Alan.

Hi Joves not seen you for a while. I keep looking at the 4.7mm and the only thing that stops me is the fact at that F/L I really like to frame the subject, with me that will be a planet of maybe a globular cluster. Now the 4.7mm as good as I am sure it is cannot really perform this task, well not with my scopes unless about X500 on the LX counts. I am sure I will get one before long though.

The 3.7mm I believe gives me about X215 or thereabouts and that is in my shortest scope, so another scope required there, get expensive.

Powermating my 8mm and 6mm Ethos gets pretty close to the SX Ethos experience I reckon. I suspect in, pure optical performance terms, the 5mm and 3.5mm Pentax XW's are a touch better.

You should try a Pentax XW sometime Joves - you might like them :smiley:
