fwm891
Thanks Olly for your images in Deep Sky section made me want to test this software on something of my own - Central area of the rosette neb as 5x5 min luminance as the original file.Original image:Stars removed:Original plus Nostars:Original minus Nostars:Nostars plus Stars only:Still need to work through the settings in Straton as some of the larger brighter stars left distinct halos in the starless image. Above images were added/subtracted within PI's PixelMath, with some adjustment to levels/contrast using Curves transformation on the starless image only before recombination.Great little program in my books... kalasinman
Very interesting. Would it be possible to adjust the image by using multiple copies of no stars with say a single copy of stars only? Just as an example.-Jack
fwm891
Contrast builds very quickly. If images are fairly strong to start with then probably 1 extra layer is as much as it will take. Weaker images will probably be more suited to multiple layering. With the image above then adding an extra layer of the starless image blew the highlights completely.2x no stars layers + original:Original + 1x no stars + no stars @ 25%:For above images other images might build at different rates... Trial and error (at least its not on film!)
