Thom
So I've picked up a mono QHY5 to take my imaging to the (hopefully) next level. I'm concentrating on lunar and planetary for the time being.Does anyone know if I need to add an IR Cut (or Pass) filter to this camera?(RGB filters will follow sometime next year.)Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
JamesF
I think it would make sense to have an IR cut filter. I think some posters here do use an IR pass filter for lunar imaging too, but I've never tried it myself.James
Jannis
You'll need at least an IR block filter for it, yes. Otherwise you'll get a blurry image as the IR data does not have the same focus point.Optionally you can use an IR-pass filter instead to sharpen the image even more in poor seeing conditions.Personally i use an 742 IR-pass filter for lunar imaging, but i've only used it on my qhy5l-II mono camera though, i don't know wich model you have? Thom
Thanks Jannis. I was wondering why my images were fuzzy but that explains it. Will invest in a filter soon as.Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
