Photoshop Post-process Workflow - Any Pointers Please

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I've been out recently playing with my iOptron Skytracker getting some wide field shots of Orion, that is between clouds and a bright moon; not the best conditions but I'm taking what i can between the rain storms at the moment. Any way after taking a series of 30s subs, Darks, flats and Bias I ran all the data through Nebulosity. At the end of the workflow I followed from the astronomyshed on youtube (thanks by the way great vid) I had a clean, noise reduced, aligned, stacked and combined Tif image that I saved as a PPM file for photoshop. But that's where I've come to a grinding halt.

Being more used to using Lightroom for developing RAW images I am somewhat stumped in Photoshop. Can anybody out there put me onto a walkthrough or workflow to deal with post-processing images after aligning and combining the subs, darks, flats and bias frames. I have had a search through previous threads but cannot seem to find a post process specific workflow.

Many thanks again to all the guys and girls out there.

There are loads of PS processing tutorials on the Web... Including a load of Video ones which I tend to find easier to follow......

These are by Steve Richards (Steppenwolf) - The author of Making Every Photon Count...

When I started out I found the ones on the Waid Observatory site very useful...

Adam Block produces great tutorials - this is the one I started with and I still refer to it often:  http://www.adamblockphotos.com/store/p7/Powerful_Processing_in_Photoshop.html   He also has tutorials that are target specific - he takes the viewer through a complete process step by step:  http://www.skycenterazstore.com/Video-Tutorials-By-Adam-Block_c_7.html

I highly recommend them...

Good luck!
