Astro Quiz

Here is a pdf containing a quiz I have put together for my astronomical society members, and thought SGL might like a go too. There are no prizes and I am sure there will be some argument about some of the questions/answers. I've tried to mix easy and hard questions for the very varied audience.

People will argue over 18, Alpha Orion (Betelgeuse) should be the brightest but Rigel is the brightest.

In 36 do you mean Ursa Ma or the asterism of the Plough?

Suspect 2 answers to 41, White dwarf and neutron, may be able to add black hole in as well.

62 define "night", if up to midnight then Dec 7 is the longest not Dec 23, after that it is morning.

63 will 800 and 900 nm do?

24: Sirius is in Canis Major, Procyon is in Canis Minor, they are not in the same constellation.

My questions are heavily influenced by the topics i know a little about, and are probably not a good spread throughout the subject of astronomy. I certainly didn't know all the answers and had to look lots up; like Sputnik, i wasn't sure of the year.

All good fun though :)
