Accidental M31

When I got my first telescope some 40 years ago, I always wanted to see Andromeda – I never succeeded since I didn’t know what I was looking for. I thought I couldn’t find it because it was too small and I was looking in the wrong spot (Internet was non-existent at the time). Then I moved to Australia and Andromeda was on the wrong side of the sky. A few days ago, I thought I try the triangulum galaxy. As usual, I use a high ISO shot, look for a smudge, zoom in and start taking subs.

When I started to stack them I realised that I missed Triangulum and rather found M31! A four decade journey came to a closure and I am happy as can be!

By the way, I found the Triangulum Galaxy too (eventually)
