Uranus 23.11.2014 and moon data -repost

(sorry first post pics seemed to be in error)

Grabbed a chance to get outside in between my new 3 week old babies feeds and my other two girls getting off to sleep before Uranus started to nose dive over the Horizon.

I wanted to try and capture Uranus using my 2.7 Barlow but the light was too dim to use any sense of video capture at F27 as the frame rate was under 1 fps and the histogram was 2/3% and nothing more than a grey shaded blurring smudge.

So opted for 2x power mate with C11 HD  infrared 685 filter and binned black fly camera. Captured 19,997 frames  and stacked 4,000 with 1.5 drizzle in AS.video     1 hr 23 min long video at 4.5fps

Colour version overlaid with colour taken from a blurry Uranus last year using a colour DSLR and old 9.25", as some prefer this, I think I prefer the mono.

Moon data taken from stretching raw stack and taking moon middle data in position which are correct to the orientation at the time of capture. (see pic) Useless moon features but magnitudes show some difference using the original data. Stretching blows out the planet and scale (see pic) so have shown the original size in comparison. Miranda is lost in the planet blow out as it was closer.

Not sure if the lower banding has blotchy storms in it or is purely a processing/noise factor.   I have been ever so subtle with processing to retain any data possible. I love the fact that it was sideways as confirmed by the main surface band so any getting any features was the aim

Thanks guys :-)

I can't wait to have a go at Jupiter ( when I can get up without waking my 3 girls ).

It's fun trying to pick alignment points in AS2 , when the dots a e nearly as big as the planet on a frame. ...which also has no obvious features . Makes me think if picking features to align makes any difference as it seems to do a good job from just 4 random selections chosen as they just fit on rather than anything on particular. When the stack came out with the distinctive bandng I was delighted :-)
