Nov. 24, 2014: Morning H-alpha tea break

Just spent some time with the LS35 and eclipse glasses. Very nice views of the sun through both showing two sunspots with eclipse glasses (the big one on the edge, and the slightly smaller one moving into the centre of the disk currently). In H-alpha there were many small, sharp (post-surge?) proms , with a bigger one to the north west. Some big filaments were showing on the northern hemisphere, and the south was graced by a couple of sunspots. The "bear paw" is moving close to the western limb, but another good one is taking centre stage. Lots of thin filaments and plage surrouds it. A new one has appeared close to the south-eastern limb, and is showing a bright plage area that suggests potential for a flare of sorts. Will check it out later during lunch. A couple of fine little proms shows close to this patch on the limb, so maybe more is awaiting us around the corner.
