Jupiter, Ganymede & Europa

nicely done, you don`t usually get the moons as they can disappear when processing, was it taken with your zwo camera ?

Thanks...yes this was done with the ZWO ASI120MC. It's a combination of two images. I exposed first for the moons, overexposing Jupiter and shot 1000 frames, then I quickly changed the exposure to bring out the planet (thus losing the moons) and shot another 1000 frames. When I got home I processed both videos with PIPP and Registax avoiding any cropping. Finally I put both images into Photoshop as separate layers, tweaked them a little and combined the best bits of both. It's something I've been wanting to try for a while.

Nicely done Davide, lots of detail showing there. I noticed you put 24th November? - Today? Did you take this at the native focal length or use a barlow?

Regards

Harvey

Hi Harvey,

Yes this was done this morning. I wasn't expecting a clear night and I was ready to curl up with the heating on, but Jupiter was so bright when I looked through the window that I couldn't resist so I braved the cold and started imaging around midnight. This shot was done just before I packed up at around 3am.

This was done without the 2x Barlow because I was trying to bring out the moons (I didn't manage to include Callisto which was a little way beyond Ganymede). Earlier on I did some closer shots of Jupiter using the Barlow and once I've processed a few I'll post one up :)
