On Cloudy Nights

Qualia

Recommended Posts

Typically, if it's bad weather during the week, I try to listen to new music, read a little and catch up and reply to threads on SGL. I ought to use some of this bad weather time to plan sessions or check out maps to see what I can observe when it clears, but I guess I'm lazy by nature

It seems that for most of us in Europe the weather is going to be pretty grim this week. So I was wondering what you typically get up to on the evenings when you can't observe?

That's an easy one. I've recently acquired my first serious DSLR + a couple of lenses, and so during the day weather/time permitting I'm out and about trying different capture settings, then in the evening I work on post capture proccessing techniques using software such as DXO, DPP, etc all gleaned from looking at and reading about the wonderful images posted by the likes of Psychobilly and PhotoKev.

Maybe one day I'll have something half decent.

Playing my guitar (currently in composition mode), read guitar building forums and drooling over instrument timber sites for ideas for the next instrument project, general reading....

Currently planning to resurrect painting, as being an 'artist' was what I started out doing before being distracted by everything else, LOL

Knitting is something else to do if I am too tired to do anything else...gotta create some good quality warm-wear for astronomy!  :D

At the moment I am doing a lot of work on the PC from home; tend to have this forum open so I can pop in when I need a breather.

Boredom doesn't exist in my life...

Start arguments. If nobody at home is talking  to me I usually go on the internet and pick a fight  (see Do dept store scopes  put people put people off astronomy) actually a variant of that question has given me hours of fun on a cycling forum this place is far too civilised.

I like to read, but spend too much time doing it in front of this screen, instead of reducing the number of books piled up in my office waiting their turn to find a place on the bookshelf.

On the weekends...
