Was there another Celestron CGE Pro?

I was surfing through several observatory pages and came up with this: http://pintovalleyobservatory.com/Equipment.htm.

The CGE Pro used by this observatory (and it mentions two other at the University of Louisville) differs completely from the CGE Pro being sold by Celestron (I have one). The one in the photos is a monster. And it is BELT DRIVEN. This photo seems to be from 2007-2008. Is this a prototype? Or was it a special order item from Celestron? Construction seems to be spectacular.

Does anyone has information about this specific version?

Sounds as if it was a strange (re)naming at one time or another. The page linked to says:

"Celestron CGE Pro - Only three in existence"

Since there are certainly more then 3 of the recent ones I would guess someone has reused the name for whatever reason (probably a marketing idea). Otherwise someone has their information wrong and what is on the page is in error.

The site looks quite old, the front page has a last updated date of : 12/04/2007, which I guess will be in the USA mm/dd/yyyy format.

My guess is that they were prototypes, possibly for the PlaneWave Ascension mount?  http://planewave.com/products-page/mounts/ascension-200hr/

Celestron were developing a 20" astrograph, which was shelved by them but re-incarnated by PlaneWave.  Perhaps the mount followed suit?

Its not the original Cge, I still have one

I wonder if it was a developement/transition model between the original and newer pro version

Can you post a pic of your mount please Phil? I have never seen an original Losmandy-made CGE so would be interested in seeing yours

Hi all. Just received information regarding the mount. The amount was a prototype built by Celestron and was featured in their 2006 catalog (I can post the Catalog here in pdf but I do not know how to do it). In addition, the mount was featured with a CDK telescope prototype as well.  It seems that both prototypes remained just that and that a group of engineers left the firm to form Plane Wave. The telescope and mount became part of the Plane Wave offerings.
