Saw Fomalhaut

Recommended Posts

For the first time ever (I think) I was able to see far enough down to see Fomalaut by standing on the raised block that I'll be mounting my pier on. OK the LP down there from the main road was pretty gack but the horizon was still a fair bit lower, almost to 0 deg elevation, and a set of 3 nm Astrodons should take care of the LP for imaging. May be able to give the Lagoon a go next "summer".

Happy.

Take a trip to the canaries! Far better idea, seen it plus scorpius in its full splendor and spend an hour or so each night of my holiday on a dark sun terrace of the hotel in my shorts, with 10x 50 bins , and nice we glass of cervesa !

Yeh there were a lot of real star names in that game.

Always nice to see the parts of the sky you don't get at home, it can be a bit disorientating at first though.

I felt a bit silly a few weeks ago - my fourth year in the hobby, looking south, thought 'what's that, there shouldn't be a star there' - Fomalhaut of course. Maybe it should be on the list of 'ten easy things you've never seen' for UK observers, along with Mercury and suchlike.
