Canon 60da and CPC925

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've decided to dip my toe in the potentially very expensive pool of deep sky imaging. I have a CPC 925 and I've just also bought a Canon 60da, which eventually I'll use both piggybacked and in prime mode. For now, due to budget constraints I'll be using it through the scope and without a wedge to allow for polar alignment. Some lenses and a wedge will hopefully follow when funds allow but for now I wanted to gauge opinion about what I could get away with in terms of exposure times given that I won't be polar aligned. I know it's not perfect but I figure I must still be able to capture some stuff?

As always guys, thoughts much appreciated! Happy Hal'oween....

Bit tricky at that focal length, but the 60da has a crop video mode that just uses the center 640x480 of the sensor so you can have a go at videoing Jupiter if you stay up late about 2am at the mo'.

There's a thread on it somewhere will have a look and post a link.

At 30 secs, I ought to be able to make a start though, right? Especially if I'm stacking RAW files? Fingers crossed the wedge won't be too many months away :-)

You can always knock up a fixed angle one out of some plywood if you're into DIY.
