Explore Scientific

DRT

I just found a few emails from them in my Spam folder confirming the order and then telling me the EPs I ordered will not be available until the end of November.

Panic over. Now I just have to be patient but I am encouraged by the fact that others have used them successfully.

Hi Derek, fear not I've used these guys a number of times and they have never let me down :)

What did you buy! what did you buy! :)

Nice to know, thanks.

I bought the Explore Scientific 82° N2 8.8mm, 11mm and 14mm Eyepieces (to go with my 4.7mm and 6.7mm)

it will be interesting to hear what you think of them when they arrive.

I've already used the 4.7mm and was very impressed. The large eye lens makes this range very comfortable for me to use and the build quality is fantastic. They are a similar size and FOV to the Nagler Type 6 range but are much cheaper.

I popped outside a few minutes ago to set-up my 150 Newt and had a quick look at the Moon through the 6.7mm. It is still too bright outside to get a descent view but again I found the EP comfrotable to use. I expect the other focal lengths will give much the same experience.

I have chosen to buy new simply because these don't seem to come up very often on the second hand market. If they do, they would be excellent value.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks, guys. I will post some reviews in due course.

I now have the full set (4.7mm to 14mm) of the 82° NG series, the 20mm and 24mm from the 68° NG series and the 20mm from the 70° series, which is a third of the price of the others. Once I have looked through the two 20mm EPs I will sell the 70° one.

I will start a new thread as soon as the cloud goes away!

I bought an Explore Scientific Comet Hunter 3 years ago, the front secondary collimation would not work, I took the scope over to Dion's (Astronomy Shed Guru) to have a look at it, he could not get it to work either, despite several emails to the USA Explore Scientific did not reply to one of them, I ended up returning it. Their loss... :(

I have bought their eyepieces since as there is little can go wrong with a new eyepiece.  OTOH
