Neptune and Uranus

Very clear night here in kent with good seeing & transparency. Uranus & Neptune both clearly seen in 12" Dob with 16mm Nagler giving approximately x90 mag. Lovely blue hue to Uranus as expected, but harder to visualise a similar colour in Neptune. No moons identified. Long session planned with Jupiter rising soon & Orion also.

Neptune is well within the range of a 8" - 200mm scope. I'd suggest a dark location for ANY observations but, alas, those are getting scarce. Are you using a good sky-chart? Stellarium maybe? Neptune will likely reveal itself by it's very blue colour.

Clear Skies & Gas-Giants,

Dave

The Scope went over to Uranus which was easy to see.
I then tried Neptune,& I could not see it.The moon
was out, so that might have been the problem. I then
tripped over the power lead,& called it a night.
So it is out there.I did connect Stellarium up
to the scope.Perhaps the planet took the

night off. :icon_mrgreen:
