Solar Eclipse from Minneapolis, MN, U.S.

Just wanted to share my images of the partial solar eclipse today.

It's my first time ever trying to image the sun, let alone an eclipse, and without any special equipment.

I used a tripod, my Canon 5D MKII, a 135mm wide angle zoom lens, and a homemade filter using #10 welders glass.

This was the outcome. Not shabby for a total spent of $5 USD!!

Nice shots.

Glad you got to see the eclipse. Great results for a $5 investment!

The last couple look a little odd to me, can't make up my mind if they are out of focus, over exposed or something else. The "horns" of the sun not coming to a point tells me something's wrong.

Cheers ant
