QHY5 body

When using a QHY5 in a finder scope for guiding, does anyone tighten this screw directly onto the silver body part of the camera, or do you worry that the screw may damage the camera/camera body?

If you're not happy with it you could always use a nylon screw?  I'm struggling to recall what I used to do with mine at the moment.

I leave the nosepiece on and tighten onto that, but I,use on and ST80, so maybe on a finder guider you need the push the camera in further?

BTW what is the brown end on your camera, mine is black?

I think that's probably just the anodising fading a bit.

Ok. Thanks both. The photo isn't my camera, the brown bit was black apparently when he got it, but it cold welded onto the finder scope adaptor and changed colour when it was heated up (aluminium ring not the camera).

Just got my qhy5 and in the pack was a nylon screw which i never thought of what it might be for. Thanks to this post ive just checked and it the same thread as the screw on the finderscope adaptor so just swapped them over.

Thanks for the indirect help, James, maybe you have one in the packaging youve not spotted.

Thanks again all. Yes, i found that nylon screw tonight too, so currently have that attached.

There is a nylon screw.  I believe it's to use with the parfocal ring that also comes with the camera.  If it does the job however, who cares what the manufacturer intended it for?
