HI everybody.....my wife and I are recent retirees and lived in New York City for a very longf time but for the longest time, we wished to live somewhere where the light pollution isn't so bad....well, we have always loved South Carolina (Charleston, actually) and just bought a house on the outskirts of the city, or to be more specific, James Island, which puts us right next door to the peninsula. The sky down here is lovely; very little  light polllution in this area and we have been using our new Televue 102 (four inch refractor) and the views here are fantastic! Lately we have been observing Saturn in the early evening, along with Mars, when the occasion calls for it. But the real show starts after 2:00 AM when Jupiter and Venus become the morning stars...terrific viewing! At that hour, the viewing is excellent, esp. I have not been able to track down very many DSO's  thus far; for me, the emphasis seems to be upon the Moon and the planets....still and all, it is a terrific experience to be able to see the heavens without the burden  of light pollution but for now I just wanted to introduce myself and let people know that I am here......anyway, that's all for now and I hope to become better acquainted with the folks who visit this website.
