I have an FSQ85 with a reducer. I have an adaptor that I bought from Ian king that screws directly into the reducer and gives me a T thread that screws directly into my QSI AND gives me the exact right spacing. Easy peasy!!! :)

And when I had Sara's scope I had the reducer and a custom adapter from Texas Nautical Supply to give me the right spacing for a different CCD. You just need to know the threads at each end of the adapter and the length of the adapter needed once you've subtracted the FW and camera chip distance from Tak's specified light path. TNS are geared up for this and will help you out perfectly well. Tak Europe seemed to be totally confused by the very question.

Thanks everyone!!! In the end I found this most helpful... Glad to discover there are pages dedicated to this endeavor and it's not only me whose had issues.

If what i am reading is right your missing the adapter that make the reducer sit inside the caa.

i have seen photos of capstain and none capstain versions with the inset reducer so im puzzled to say the least

I have sent Ian King an email about this reducer inset adapter, is there a way to tell exactly which version of the ED106 you have?

From what I can see, which could well not be correct:

Ollys ones have Blue artwork on them, so stand out easily

the ED106 has the Capstain with small handles on it.

The ED106 DX II has a capstain also but no handles on it.

The ED106 DX III hsa no capstain.

Im cyurrenly trying to find out exactly whcih one I own now, as I have a CAA and Ian King informs me that the EDX versions come with a CAA, however as I got mine second hand it could of been purchaed after.

Im getting the adapter in anyway to try out.

I have an early FSQ106-ED (with the capstan).

Mine though looks like the 'graphic' in Liquid's post.

I have the CAA from the TOA150 on the back with that adapter (you can just see the ribbed edge of it sticking out of the CAA in that shot). This goes back into the CAA so that it negates the back focus taken up using the CAA.

The reducer (which I have fitted) then screws into this - mostly sitting inside the CAA... does that make sense..?!

Sorry, I don't have a picture at the moment...

Sorry again, not sure due to the fact I'm away with work at the moment...

I can tell you that hanging off the back is a Trutek Supa-Slim FW fitted to the SBIG camera. The draw tube is still extended 10-15mm.

The adapter is here: http://www.optcorp.com/tk-trdc0106-trdc0106-reducer-coupling-for-fsq-106ed-camera-angle-a.html

'Coupling No 17'

As I understand it, it turns my FSQ-106ED into the EDX (or the 'American' version).

There is no 'smaller' Reducer that was mentioned earlier - it's the same one as in the diagram attached - it looks smaller/thinner, because it's sitting INSIDE the CAA !

With a bit of work on the screw attachments for the extender to make them a lower profile (I have that as well!), that will also sit inside this adapter if you wish to extend the focal length... all sorted by Nick at Trutek.

This diagram might help (extender not shown in this though)!
