Skytee type mount for newtonian

I had hastily put my 8 inch Orion Optics UK newtonian up for sale earlier.I decided to rethink the sale.It does give good views.

Can any one offer any advice as to the best way of mounting this tube on a manual mount?I am talking about the Skytee type of mount.I believe that there are several.Which would be the best?

I was thinking in terms of a mechanical dobsonian type of setup.

The Skytee can handle the weight of your scope. I used it successfully with a 152mm f5.9 refractor weighting nearly 12 kilograms. Your scope is about 4-5 kilos lighter so no problem in terms of weight handling.

However depending on weight distribution, when you mount and balance it, you may find the OTA banging on the tripod and an extension pier may be required.

Finally, there is currently the Skytee II, no other types of Skytee but if you are generally referring to manual alt Az mounts, there is also the Sabre.

Grumpy, that 00 tube will give superb views, hard to beat in fact and well worth hanging onto, the very best way to mount it would be a dob, fairly easy to make it yourself or maybe some one on here might know some one who could make a lovely dob base for you
