Now ive been told i have a tendancy to overtighten but guess its just paranoia of scopes crashing to the ground.

Not been out of action long tho, ordered a new ADM replacement puck and saddle with new losmandy bar fromFLO on Sunday evening and arrived today

Yes,could'nt agree more.

The Neq6 is a fair mount for its price and performance but it certainly has its flaws in design, the lattitude cam arm being one owners should adress if mounting a heavy scope on.

That's the first upgrade I did to my eq6 went I bought I went for ADM saddle as well about a week after I bought the mount and I agree it's so much better than the standard clamp , it grips a lot bigger area of dovetail , so I don't worry about the ota falling out as long as the clamp is done up securly.

Good upgrade - I always do the same on any new mount I buy. Can't beat ADM - but it's still possible for the scope plate to slide out of the ADM saddle when the temperature changes and metal shrinks or expands. So I put a bolt through the central hole at the top end of the plate to prevent it sliding backwards. :)

(I also upgrade the puck to ADM.)

The old style puck shown in #4 is actually better than the later spring loaded version IMO which I wouldn't trust with a heavy OTA. As mentioned, for the price of an EQ5/6 mount you would think there could be something better. With ADM you get what you pay for.

Just a word of caution though, even ADM has a weak spot as I found out the painful way. The knobs on the clamp are aluminum and thread onto steel rods so there is a pretty high chance of galling. This happened to me, I tightened the knobs until they went no further and figured the scope was securely fixed, unfortunately the real reason that the knobs went no further was because the threads had filled with aluminum filings. So while I was turned away, the scope slid out of the clamp and fell prey to Newtons law.  Remarkably it survived the mishap but I almost didn't, I thought I'd have a heart attack right there and then. So make sure you grease the threads in the knobs, regularly inspect them and if possible, replace them with steel knobs.
