Skywatcher AllView issues with Canon 5diii and 6d

Any Allview owners that can help with these issues please. Just bought an Allview....

1 when plugging the synch cable in go either camera it locks the entire camera up apart from speed and aperture. Nothing else works at all on it.... Tried it with an old Canon 30d and it works fine on that so must be software related.

2. On manual video panning there appears to be no difference in speed of pan from speed 5 to speed 9. Speed 4 is around a tenth of what 5 to 9 are and going downwards to 1 it seems to work fine.

3. I haven't had a computer with a com port in it for years. It comes with a cable with a comport adapter on it so how on earth are you supposed to update software? The manual states it works with windows 95 onwards???? I hope this doesnt mean tne manual is 20 years out of date????

Any feedback anyone has would be great before i have to send the unit back...

I have no exp with the allview but have used various items to control my camera, the canon has two inputs one for focus the other activates the shutter and normally these can be used remotely with either a simple switch circuit of an open collector transistor (theres is enough current from the camera for this) what can cause lockup is if the "focus" is permenantly on this prevents other camera functions.

If you can check the outputs from the cable to see if this is happening.
