Power cut - Yippee

Was just setting up and we had a power cut in the village, great I thought.

While I was waiting for proper darkness had a look at Albireo, very poor seeing but you have to take all the advantage you can. Went up to the double double, didn't manage a clean split, just slightly elongated.

By this time the lights were on again but as this was the first time out for some time because of the incessant cloud had a quick look for the ring - failed to see anything.

Moved over to M31 with the intention of seeing this and then doing a tour of Cassiopeia. The transparency was very poor and as I was looking I thought this is getting worse. Sure was, complete cloud now with just the odd star showing.

Another early night then.

Sorry to hear about the seeing and transparency, Alan. It's a right pain when it's forecasted as clear but the skies are still not playing up. I guess it was just as well the clouds rolled in and you could pack up without feeling too disappointed or wasting more of your time. Similar story here, only the forecast has promised cloud all week :clouds1:

Ive had that happen twice and think how lucky i am to happen to be outside when it happens and yup it makes the sky noticeably darker for me too xD

What scope did you have on hand at the time?

Theres nothing more annoying than having your scope ready but you cant use it at the time as you are entertaining friends. Then once they leave its 100% clouded over :p
