Phillyo
Hi guys,Well, I thought as it cleared up last night I'd try setting up my new guide scope and trying to get it focused etc. After spending nearly 90min trying to figure out why PHD2 wouldn't connect to my QSI "guide scope" and banging my head against the wall...I realised that the QSI wasn't the guide scope, it was the Lodestar X2... DOH!By this time it was 3:15am and I didn't have much darkness left but I thought I'd have a quick look at NGC1499 - The California Nebula. I did 1 x 1800s test shot to see how guiding was and it worked flawlessly. Stars were pin points! But I wanted to get more than a couple of subs in so I dropped it to 1200sSo this is NGC1499,Exposures: 6 x 1200sScope: Megrez 72 APO DDGImaging camera: QSI 583wsgGuide camera: Lodestar X2Mount: EQ6Software: APT, CdC, PHD2 and Astrotortilla.Processed in PI then a couple of touches in PS CS6.Comments/criticism always welcome guys.Full res image can be found here: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y115/Mercenary118/CaliforniaNebula_Full.jpgThanks,Phil. swag72
Looks great - A super fov (just a smidge jealous!!) - with lots of detail and faint stuff showing through. You must be very pleased with how that camera is working out
Phillyo
Sara, I'm simply over the moon! Once I iron out the kinks and get to grip with how to use everything, I'm REALLY looking forward to the coming winters imaging! Thanks everyone. PhotoGav
Great work Phil, super detail coming through. I think it will be worth the 1800s subs though, from my dabbling the increase in detail from the extra exposure is significant on these faint nebulae. It does open the question of long subs vs many shorter subs, but that's a different thread isn't it!Another happy member of the QSI / X2 fan club! PhotoGav
Forgot to add APT into the QSI/X2 fan club bit. Loving the new release (filter display - thank you Ivo!), just don't have autofocus kit yet!
Phillyo
Thanks Gav. I will most definitely be going for the longer subs when I have more time! Hoping to frame it a little better too...and yes, I'm loving the QSI, the X2 and APT! I have just emailed Dave at Sharpsky about his auto focuser ;-)Phil
