I think you have given me a new target to find davide simonetti

Go for it...the Orion Nebula is one of the easier nebulae to find and image...and as autumn and winter approaches it appears earlier in the night sky. It's one of my favourite celestial objects

Nice image, on a tricky object. Do a google search on processing Orion some great tips out there.

Some comments for a reprocess: (good practice)

The sky is to black up, to much contrast, so you lose some detail.

The nebula is over saturated so gone very purple and also lose some detail.

Lastly may be worth layering a bright version under a darker version to bring out the core and balance the fainter outer layers.

When I did this target I did three sets of exposures to capture the core, the middle and the faint outer wisps. This is same as HDR on a normal image.

Hope these tips are useful.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for that Pacman. Those are interesting tips that I'm looking forward to trying out next time I'm pointed at M42 on some clear nights (soon I hope). This is definitely a target I want to resolve as well as I can before moving on to others. Roll on winter

I couldn't resist trying out your tip about layering different versions of the image and though still not perfect, it is much better I think. Thanks again for the tips
