90 Degree power cable??

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

sorry, bit of a trivial one :embarrassed:, but does anyone know where I can get a 90 degree cigarette lighter cable to power the mount (it is an ioptron mount, but I know that the Celestron NexStar power cable works with it).  With the power cable I have it catches the DEC as it is slewing and this is a bit annoying, particularly when I am trying to balance things.  The image below shows the kind of thing I am after,

Cheers,

DDS :)

Just be very careful when attaching the adapter as they can easily be connected in reverse polarity-wise , SkyWatcher mounts are all 'tip-positive' and I suspect that other makes are too but please check first as a reversed connector will result in expensive damage to the mount's circuitry.

That's strange, my iOptron mount came with a 90 degree plug.

I did not get a cigarette power cable supplied with it, just a European power cable. I guess I could convert this to a cigarette type fixing, but I only mess about with electrics when I absolutely have to :)

Cheers for all of the replies, went for one of the 12cm extendor cables in the end, but I needed one with a 2.1mm end piece rather than the linked 2.5mm one (although I bet the 2.5mm one would fit fine).

Cheers,

Dave :)

NB. first time I have used e-bay in ages, buggers forced me to change my password, I've had that one for atleast ten years :(

Would hardly be surprising if a few other people didn't also have it too, then :D

I can never remember whether the 2.1mm or 2.5mm connector is the common one.  Glad you found the right one in the end.

My vixen super polaris is tip negative.

On all my leads (have an eq5 that these days i hardly use cos i can mount the 8" on the sp), i have either a black bit of unsulating tape or a red bit.

arrived today tested and are fine, just need to rewire some leads later this is going to go on my mount and will be attached so this adapter is fixed in place and takes no tension giving a clean break on the joint if needed.

Yes, mine just turned up as well :).  Looks like clear skies tonight, but I am going to be stuck at work past midnight and I am going to be too tired to get out the scope when I get back.  Hopefully the weekend......
