APT and FITS file help please!!

I recently got together an Atik 314l+ and a USB filter wheel and filters etc to move on from a DSLR

I have tried to use it a couple of times using Artemis but got fed up of it keep crashing and losing the filter wheel connection etc etc

Tonight I tried APT and it worked a charm except the live view image to use with the focus tools is a tiny square in the middle of the preview screen - too small to be useable - what am I doing wrong???

Secondly I cannot find where to change the file format that it uses to save the images????  It has saved them as FITS which I have never come across and I dont have  a programme to open or stack them!!  HELP !!!

BUT it worked reliably and after I get over these teething troubles I will need to learn to make it talk to Astrtortilla and PHD and maybe even explore the tracking abilities (although I do like the EQDIR setup)

Thanks in advance.

On the upside - I have got PHD working superbly so some progress was made  !!

FITs is the standard format for astronomical images so that is to be expected. If you use the free DSS (Deep Sky Stacker) program for stacking you can output the result either as a FIT or TIF file, the latter you can open directly in Photoshop etc,. Alternatively, you can use another free program caleed Fits Liberator to manipulate the files before importing to Photoshop, it used to be a plugin but now works as stand-alone.

As for the LiveView :) To to Settings->Main and disable "LiveView Automation" this will stop changing the Binning property and will give you a bigger image. In this case you may want to use ROI (Region of Interest) if the transfer is slow ;)
