I've seen a few (the Horsehead being most famous) but looking for black on black, or nearly black (as most of them are) ain't easy. I believe they were all (or nearly all) discovered photographically. Easiest dark nebula to see is the Cygnus Rift, which is a beautiful naked-eye sight.

I have spotted quite a few using wide field scopes or binoculars. Makes a change from looking for faint fuzzy stuff
