Moon Video - HD SDI

Spacedout

Thanks Lightspeed, I thought a bit of actual video might be a nice change :)  I have seen better than this using my Sony DSC-HX1 as below but with that I have to be at the camera and adjusting manually.  I like to work remote from my office and broadcast live so that is why I'm looking into the cctv HD SDI cameras.

Thanks again

Great video Karl! You are right - it is nice to see the live video as well as the still images that get posted!

Its been a while since I have done some Lunar and Planetary work - must get back into it when the weather allows!

Did a quick test last night with my HD SDI Cam.l

Hi Karl

Good to see these videos. Inspiring me to try some lunar stuff with my PD1 - thanks!

Just curious, which scope were you using? I'm presuming from the image scale it was your C11?

Cheers

Thanks Paul,

Still images are great too I have my fair share but I'll always post a video first if it looks okay and with the Moon and planets you can't go wrong! That said if I could work it out I'd love to run this little clip through registax as I'm sure it would produce a very nice still image :)

Cheers

Hello Simon,

Thank you!  Yes this was on the C11 with no reducer.  I'm wondering if I concentrated more on my collimation how much sharper I could get the image    Some people see a bright Moon as another cloudy night but I say make the most of it!  The challenge for me is to get as nice a live image as possible for broadcasting/recording.

Thanks again

Karl

Thanks for the info Karl. Interesting results from the HD SDI cam - I'll watch this space...

Yes, inclined to agree, if there's a big bright moon in the way, you may as well observe it, image it or video it. No point in wasting it!

Best

Great video, Karl! I love video astronomy. Check out some of my posts. So far, I have video of Jupiter in this forum and one of Mars in the Imaging-planetary forum. I use the Orion Electronic Imaging Eyepiece and the Orion Deep Space Camera II for my cosmic video adventures. Still learning about stacking. Even if my images aren't top tier I'm still happy that I'm capturing some cosmic photons.

Keep up the good work. Look forward to seeing more

Astronomical evenings,

Reggie

Thank you Reggie and I will take a look at your posts as I've not see your camera in action before.  If you like VA Reggie then you may find (blatant plug!) this new site of interest - www.videoastronomylive.co.uk

Thanks again

Karl
