Color balance in flats

Recommended Posts

Hi

I just noticed something.

This is my latest image, and I have had trouble teasing out blue from the stars.

Double Cluster in Perseus 2014-09-05

Is it possible that the flat has somehow washed away the blue due to it having a large spike towards blue?

Attatching a JPG of the flat.

Thanks

Have you used a filter such as an Astronomik Clip or an LP filter for the capture?

Tjena Carl!

If you want I can run your data through Star Tools (preferably a linear 32 bit stack uploaded as a zip file somewhere - I'm still on mobile Internet after my recent relocation to Linköping). I have found that Star Tools often handles gradients very well and is excellent at preserving star colour.

The free trial does everything except saving the result so you can also try it yourself if you want to.
