Another late one as we were socked in first thing again. Broke by about 11 but I was at work by then :angry1:  Anyway caught a good size gap again, just before the Sun hit the roof tops. Shot 130 stacked 37, PIPP'd, Reg'd & GIMP'd :lipsrsealed::grin:

I'm having a bit of a dilemma at the moment, not entirely convinced that colouring my images isn't reducing contrast / detail. Have posted both the mono and false colour images today so please let me know what you think.

Well caught sir ...

I always feel that I lose the very fine detail if I attempt to colour a disc , probably mind over matter as it's still there at full res but always appears 'flat' at normal post size.

Yet another reason why I process in Mono ...  :p

I have looked at them both very carefully and actually the same detail is visible in both. I would have to agree with Floater though that if pushed I would say the mono had a teeny bit more contrast.

Excellent David.  You do loose a bit of detail by colouring the image, probably as a result of a small drop in contrast.  I usually lift the contrast and fiddle with the brightness after creating a false colour image.  I find that colour can enhance a Ha image, especially an inverted image, but seldom find that any of my WL images improve with colour.

In your mono image, you can see more of the fine detail in the spots and also granulation, which is nearly completely gone in the colour version.  I would suggest keep on posting both, that way you will please everyone.
