31 August 2014 C/2014 E2 Jacques - some experiments

I thought I'd have a go at comet Jaques last night and here are the results.  I wasn't quite sure how to go about it so i sort of made thing up as I went along.  Firstly all images were guided.  All taken with my ED120mm APO with reducer and modded Canon 1000D.

First up some exposures stacked in DSS using "Comet" stacking to fix the comet and trail the stars.  45 exposures of 20 seconds each:

Then Comet and stars stacked to remove all trailing, again the same set of 20 sec exposures:

Then I upped the exposure time to 2mins:

And finally a GIF of the 2 min exposures to show Jaques scuttling across the sky!

also do you create the GIF's in Photoshop?

The GIF is made from 18 x 2min subs, one sub per frame and, yes, I made the GIF in PS.

Moves quickly, doesn't it?  I imaged Jacques a few days ago and during the two sessions it moved so far I had to move my mount.  Well caught.
