Hello all. I am just looking for a place to get to know a bit more about astronomy. I figure it is a pretty healthy hobby, which I need right now.

I was raised by my grandpa who worked at NASA as an electrical worker during the Apollo and shuttle programs. My childhood involved taking frequent trips to the KSC visitor's center. 

I will never understand why, but I never pursued a life in the space sciences, and now I am wishing I had. I took my oldest boy to KSC a few months back, and watching him made a few things click. In the past few months, we have spent time watching everything Netflix has to offer for the space sciences. We bought a basic telescope that I am still learning how to use.

Hi & Welcome to SGL.  You've come to the right place to learn more.  It must of being amazing for your Grandpa to work at NASA, I'm sure he had some good stories to tell you & you  being a  frequent visitor to the centre as well.  Hope you enjoy your time here.  If you have any questions regarding anything, just post in the appropriate section.

Hi and a warm welcome to SGL. How lucky are you with the Apollo connection and living in Florida, close to KSC. I was there in 2006 and saw Atlantis on the pad, but missed the launch as it was put back due to weather :sad: .
