The Milky Way - Snowdonia National Park

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

First real shot at the Milky Way while camping this week.  I live in Birmingham so don't tremendous views without much travelling.  Lot to learn in processing and maintaining subtlety.  I think I've overdone it here and there but have only had a few hours of trying today.  Better results in the pipeline hopefully.

I'm a little disappointed I didn't take any shots at a higher exposure.  i stayed close to 15 as I was worried about getting eggy stars, but should have gone for another ten or so I reckon.  Never mind.

Thought I'd share all the same.

Canon 1100D. Tokina 11-16mm @ f/2.8

ISO 3200.  Exposures around 15 seconds.

Same lens and camera combo I used at the weekend to get my Milky Way shots, it is a cracking lens.

I found I could get to 30 seconds at 11mm with only a fraction of star trailing noticeable when zooms right in so next time I think I will go to 25 seconds.

Also processed mine in lightroom 5, need to read through the user manual as there is quite a bit to learn.
