glynnlondon
Saw M 42 for the first time tonight about 4 am and it looks impressive , even low down with the orange glow of the town and the lightening sky,In my 10mm ep the trapezium stars were clear as a bell in the centre of a C shape of nebulous cloud.Definitely my favourite dso ( along with M 13 ) and going to be amazing in a couple of months. Paul73
This must be one of the first spots of the year for this one. Just wait until you see it high on the sky!Paul

astronymonkey
I managed to get it last weekend at Dalby but really low down and getting lost in the dawn sky.Good spot though at this time of year as I though it would have been out of reach for a 130p at the moment due to the lack of contrast, just shows how nice these scopes are.Wait unto winter when it is higher , at least you can see it just after getting home from work rather than having to do an early morning start !cheers
