Dob Base Wiring

Not a big job but a couple of hours well spent...

The AZ motor and GPS cables are brought though to the inside of the base through a hole drilled underneath the ALT motor and hidden by 25 x 16mm mini trunking, the power lead goes back through the same hole from the battery.

The power comes from an old emergency light fitting containing 2 x 12V 7Ah batteries in parallel, it outputs to a fused 12Vdc socket and a fused 12Vdc cig lighter style socket. An analogue voltmeter activated by a pushbutton lets me see when the battery needs a charge. The battery is secured on 2 slotted holes in the back of the unit slipping over 2 screws in the front of the base, allowing easy removal for transport and charging.

Quite happy with the results, no more tangled cables to get caught or trip over

Very nice! When I saw the thread title I was hoping it was about how to retrofit goto into a dob scope, but I guess you got yours ready made and just tidied it up... :-)
