Leisure Battery Charger Recommendations

Hello,

I have got an 80 amp hour deep cycle leisure battery and am looking for a charger for it. What do you suggest? I have been using a standard car battery charger for a few months, but it does not have any "Smart" features such as over charging protection or maintenance settings so I think its time for a new one.

I use a streetwize 12v trickle charger on my 105Ah battery and it works a treat - 15 pounds or so from Argos

I'd opt for a Ctek charger or similar.

+1 for a Ctek type charger... a standard car battery charger can severely damage a leisure battery by allowing hydrogen gas generation to occur due to the uncontrolled input current.

I use an optimax for the motorbike and the car. However, for the batteries in my shack (used for ham radio) I have a smart charger bought from lidl for £14.99 and they are superb. These are actually 'no brand' versions of the ctek charger, and well worth waiting for (they come up in lidl sales 2-3 times per year). I'd happily use them for car and bike if I hadn't already bought optimax!

Ctek! said a few times already,ctek chargers may cost a few quid but definetly worth the Investment.

Mine reconditioned my neclected 100ah lesuire battery no problem.

Why are you using 'BATTERIES' in your shack?, or are you using Mobile gear as a base station.?
