Splendid southern view

Took the chance to look at the dark sky looking south from near littlehampton..

Using my 7 x 50 binoculars I noticed three stars in a vertical line. Turns out this was Saturn, Zubenal Genrubi a fine double in the bins and Mars..

To the left was Antares...and to the right and down was M4....Just with averted vision.

That teapot was obvious with the naked eye and the milky way was bright and detailed rising up out of the sea on the right of the spout...

M6 the butterfly cluster was a nice find.

Above the teapot were a load of fuzzy blobs and the Sagittarius star cloud. Awesome..

Liked the little circle of stars which included 33 35 and b Capricorn as well. A bit like the circle above M11.

The limiting naked eye mag was 5.3 but it seemed darker and clearer than at home....I could just reach mag 9.0 with the binoculars.

It was disconcerting to hear the occasional splash which I assume was from a fish or bird? But great to scan this part of the sky normally invisible from home..[emoji3]
